In many instances, it may
be lack of awareness about communication style, or a lack of
appropriate "tools" in our communication skills toolbox
which may be causing conflict in the workplace. Sometimes an
individual may have an abrasive style that is creating problems
with subordinates or co-workers. Many a well-intentioned
individual has approached a co-worker to try and resolve an issue,
only to find that the outcome is an aggravation of the situation
rather than a resolution.
I work one on one with individuals within
organizations to develop more effective communications skills as
well as tools to deal with anger and other emotional behaviour. In
some cases, it is skill development in anticipation of mediation.
In other cases, it is skill development as part of the resolution
to a complaint.
